This trip is for those travelers that are lovers of the ocean and all things that come with it: such as a relaxed coastal lifestyle, sun, exceptional views and seafood. As such, it is designed for those that want to bask in the sun, see some sights at a slow-pace and relax while on holiday as everything would be fully organized ahead of time by us. If you like strolling around old cities with so much history, watching spectacular sunsets, eating good food, being pampered and taking a swim at some of the world’s most pristine beaches - then this trip is for you and we would love to have you come along on this journey with others like yourself ...
You’ll arrive in Oporto and have transportation waiting for you to take you to the hotel, where you’ll finally meet other members on the trip in person. The first day is for getting settled in and for strolling around the city at your leisure. So we don’t have much planned besides watching the sunset overlooking the Douro River at one of the locals’ favorite spots, where there is a lovely ambience that you will truly enjoy. Then we will have our first dinner together as a group before calling it a night. Unlike the Spanish, the Portuguese do tend to somewhat keep ‘regular hours’ for mealtimes, so we will get together earlier in the evening. **We recommend that you fly in and get settled by mid-afternoon.
Good Morning! Breakfast is on your terms, but of course we will give you a list of our favorite spots. Oporto, very much like Lisbon, has tons of restaurants that specialize in Brunch using local produce, so you will be sure to have a good start to your day. As a group, we will meet afterwards with our guide for the day at the Sao Bento train station to learn more about the history of Oporto and see the city with its many viewpoints on foot (the best way to explore the city). We will also visit the famous Livraria Lello (renowned for its architecture and considered one of the World’s Most Beautiful Bookstores) and then cross the street to visit the Torre dos Clerigos (considered to have the best views of the whole city). We will then break for the rest of the afternoon and meet up in the evening to enjoy a sunset cruise on the river.
After breakfast, we will cross the border between Portugal and Spain and make our way to the Galician Coast. We will stop by the old fishing town of ‘A Guarda’ and visit the Santa Tecla Celtic Ruins and the Monte Santa Trega viewpoint. We will also have lunch there before getting to our destination for the evening. We will spend the night in Baiona (a seaside town), where you can explore one of the most beautiful fortresses in Galicia and you’ll be able to have a relaxing evening in town.
Today we will drive to Vigo (the biggest city in Galicia). You’ll have the day to do as you please - explore around the old town center or lay out at the beach - as there are no specific activities planned for the day. We will give you dinner recommendations to some of our favorite restaurants in town.
We will start the day early and take a private boat ride to the Cies Islands for a day trip. We will enjoy the day out on the ocean and in nature. As the Cies Islands are considered to be a nature reserve and have some of the most spectacular beaches in the world - you can spend the day on the beach or hiking different trails on the archipelago. We will return to Vigo in the evening - have dinner and relax.
Today is another slow day of rest. You have the day free to explore and we will meet in the evening to do a short hike to a viewpoint with one of the most spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the sunset. We will then have dinner together before calling it an early night.
We will visit Combarro, a town known for its charming hórreos and coastal views before heading further up the coast to visit O Grove and Isla de Toxa. In the evening we will have our final dinner together with a chef that will teach us how to make typical Galician dishes with recipes that you can take back home with you.
After an early breakfast and check-out from the hotel, we will say our goodbyes and head out to catch your flights back home. We hope you’ve truly enjoyed your trip with us and were able to relax and disconnect for a few days. And we hope to see you again soon on another trip.
